New Banners for Coby and Norland

The Beautification Committee of the Coboconk, Norland, and Rosedale area has consistently brought new initiatives to improve upon the visual aspects of living in, and visiting, the area. Each season brings many exciting projects, and new this summer season is the banners that decorate the towns. With the help of local talent, each banner that is seen overlooking Coboconk, Norland, and Rosedale are hand crafted works of art. Artistic expression has long held an important role in society by bringing communities together, opening discussion, showcasing local talent, and reinforcing values.

Coboconk Celebrates 150 Years...and More

This July long weekend marks a special anniversary and commemorates 150 years of Canadian history and identity. But did you know that Coboconk predates Canada by 16 years?

Group of Seven's JEH MacDonald Inspired by the Area

The Group of Seven, a group of artists responsible for one of the first major artistic movements in Canada from 1920-1933, believed that true art is created through direct contact with nature. Many of Canada’s beautiful landscapes were captured in paintings that have since become an important part of Canadian history. A landscape that is frequently seen in Group of Seven paintings, namely those created by James Edward Hervey MacDonald, is the Gull River of the Coboconk and Norland area.

Beautification of the Area

While the Kawartha Lakes region has always been visually pleasing with its natural landscapes and pristine lakes, this area has always been more than meets the eye. The Beautification Committee of Coboconk, Norland, and Rosedale see an opportunity for growth in this area. Since its existence, the Beautification Committee has made excellent progress. For the past two years, the committee has received a total of $63,050 in grant funding, and this money has since been put to good use.

Warm Waters, Cool People, Big Adventures

The visually stunning areas of Coboconk, Norland, Rosedale, and Kirkfield offer lots of intriguing natural delights and outdoor recreation.
