Summer Tourism Ambassadors

The Coboconk, Norland & Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization started in 2014 to help our towns to be a vibrant community for business and residents. Over 110 enthusiastic members have joined together in a commitment to improve the social, civic, and business environment in our communities. The Summer Tourism Ambassador(s) will:

·        Support the supervisor in planning and execution of community events and fundraising initiatives, promotion of tourism, and promotion of local business.

·        Under supervision, develop and execute communications and marketing initiatives aimed at the area's high summer population.

·        Assist in Chamber member recruitment initiatives.

·        Research and write articles for local news publications, website and e-newsletters.

·        Take lead on updated photography of communities and writing of posts for social media and website.

·        Assist with necessary tasks associated with the TSW Trail Towns Initiative with RTO8.

·        Provide friendly and welcoming service to visitors looking for business information, attractions, and tourism sites in Coboconk, Norland, and Rosedale.

·        Encourage visitors to increase their stay and assist with trip planning.

·        Assist in the maintenance of our downtowns in Coboconk, Norland, and Rosedale by picking up trash when neededand weeding and watering flower beds.

·        Help create and install small seasonal displays in our communities.

Qualifications:

Due to funding restrictions, the qualified applicant must be under the age of 31. Applicants will have the ability to take ownership of a project with guidance.

ü   Knowledge about tourism sites in Coboconk, Norland, and Rosedale.

ü  Ability to solve problems, think strategically, manage information, recommend strategies

ü   To work with others collaboratively and display a positive and helpful attitude.

ü  Ability to stay organized and manage time effectively.

ü  Strong interpersonal skills.

ü  Good writing ability.

ü  Some knowledge of website updating and social media strategies.

ü  Due to the necessity of travel between Coboconk, Norland, and Rosedale, the successful candidate must have reliable transportation.

The availability of these positions is dependent on funding.
