As businesses make the shift into phase three of the COVID-19 recovery plan, attention is being placed on the recapturing of tourism life.

On July 9th, it was announced over $1.4 million in tourism recovery investments will be allocated across the Kawartha Lakes region. Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, Lisa MacLeod, and Minister of Infrastructure and MPP for the area release this following concerns for the impact of the local economy due to the lack of typical summer bustle.

$1.25 million will be allocated towards local marketing initiatives, through a joint funding partnership between Destination Ontario and Destination Canada.. The remaining amount will support local festivals and events, in association with the 2020 Celebrate Ontario program.

This investment will provide the needed tools and resources for restoring a thriving community for visitors and the local population alike.
